"Boomer is one of the best all-around clowns I have  seen.  He can do it all -- from stage acts in front of large circus audiences to delighting a single, small child.  In addition, he is just a heck of a nice guy!  I would recommend him for just about any clown activity, from a one-year old's birthday party to half-time entertainment in the King Dome. His laid-back demeanor is calming to the most fearful child.  The Treasure Valley area is very fortunate to have two of the very best clowns in the world - Twinkles and Boomer. Treasures indeed!"

Boomer says: "Clowns are magical and present a life-sized work of art for all to enjoy."

Following is a statement prepared by Boomer in response to a request for information about himself, his abilities and his experience: (Edited for clarity and brevity.)

"I started clowning in 1981 in Des Moines, Iowa with the Shrine Temple. I was drawn to join this philanthropic organization because of the work they do for children. The Shrine currently operates 18 orthopedic and 3 burns hospitals. These hospitals provide treatment free of charge for children up to their 18th birthday. This treatment is based strictly on need. Ability to pay never enters into it. Working for the community has been a huge inspiration for me personally. What better way to support this cause than by becoming a clown. Clowns are magical and present a life sized work of art for all to enjoy.

"For most people clowns provide a welcomed relief to everyday stress. This is especially true for children who are hospitalized. Working as a "Caring Clown" was the first and most important aspect for me. I receive much pleasure from bringing joy to those who are hospitalized or in nursing homes. I've had the opportunity to work with children who were terminally ill, had cancer or were involved in various types of serious accidents. several of whom have passed away. The ability to bring joy to children in situations such as these is a gift to be shared.

"I work every year with the Shrine Circus. In approximately half of the years since 1981 I've helped with a skit performed at the circus. This year we performed one in which a clown enters a outhouse only to have it blown up while he's inside. Lot's of noise, smoke and plenty of laughter. Shrine activities aren't just limited to the circus however. We do performances for numerous other business's throughout the year. We perform at company picnics, grand openings, birthday parties etc. This is done strictly to benefit the Shrine Hospitals. All monies received go to benefit the children.

"I have also been involved with Fundsy, The Children's Miracle Network, Saint Luke's Kidsafe, First Night Boise and the Renaissance fair at the old Idaho penitentiary. Through my extensive work for charities I have learned an incredible amount about clowning, and about what makes people laugh, smile and be happy. I've loved it all.

"The "professional" aspects of my clowning vary from small birthday parties to large corporate events. I am equally comfortable performing for a party of one or one thousand. I pride myself on my balloon sculpturing abilities and can fill nearly every request. I can make anything from a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to a simple puppy dog. Lately I've noticed that flowers are a big hit, the bigger and brighter the better. Just name it and I'll twist it 99% of the time. If I am stumped, I'll go home and figure it out for the next time I'm asked. I always like to include some production magic and juggling. The magic includes close up production, vanishes and items that change physically. I like to end my children's show with a production of candy. This is always a big hit. Juggling can include three balls, clubs and three clubs on fire. I also involve the kids with three juggling bean bags that are shaped like pigs. One child will wear a pig hat and oink encouragement for the triplets as they go through their routine.

"In 1994 I attended the University of Wisconsin's Clown Camp. This was a full week of instruction in the clown arts. My chosen venue was the caring clown. The week ended with a performance at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse Wisconsin. I only spent 2 hours a day with my chosen venue. The rest was divided between, juggling, magic, makeup application, balloons, etc. This week was spent learning from numerous famous, well known and working clowns. It added more to my clown bag of tricks than I ever could have imagined.

"I take a special pride in providing a clown character that is immaculate in make up, costume and performance. I am continually working on improving and expanding my skills. I believe that this is a very important part of being an outstanding clown. A great clown must always give more than the audience expects. I strive to do this every time I put the make up on. I am constantly working to let their laughter loose. "
